Outcome Statement

This is a high level programme to an exciting international career in information and communications technology. It starts off with fundamental skills and leads onto middle level skills.

This diploma provides a computing qualification that recognises a good understanding of information technology knowledge and skills in the fields of computer and network support and an introduction to the specialisation in Multimedia or Computer Support. It is ideally suited to people who want an internationally recognised qualification to enable them to work in a variety of middle level positions in diverse organisations across the IT industry. You will start to become specialised in an optional major of either Multimedia or Computer Support. Students studying in the programme can work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to assemble and repair personal computer operating systems and be prepared for the internationally recognised A+ and Network+ exams to gain these internationally recognised qualifications.

Qualification requirements

This qualification is awarded to people who have achieved 240 credits at level 5 or above of which:

ü a minimum of 60 credits are from the Computing sub-field at level 6

ü a further minimum 100 credits are from the Computing sub-field at level 5 or above,

included in these 160 credits are optional specialist strands where a minimum 72 of the 160 credits are from one of the following domains: :

Qualifications

This National Diploma in Computing Level 6 is a 2 year programme of 72 weeks and is awarded to students who have achieved 240 New Zealand National Qualification Framework Unit Standard Credits. This Level 6 Diploma programme meets the qualification requirement for immigration under Skilled Migrant category.

The following internationally recognised external Certification examinations are also available and the costs are not included in the programme fees.

Duration:

Two Academic Years

Entry Criteria:

The programme is suited for candidates who already have a basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. Students must already be computer literate and have an interest in computer technical skills.

  • Students must be at least 18 years old prior to the commencement of the program

  • Successfully completed at least 3 years of secondary education

  • A lower level qualification in computing such as the National Certificate in Computing Level 4 is preferred but not essential.

  • English language competency to IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 550 or sit Regent’s English Entry Test

  • Each applicant’s skills may be individually assessed.

All international learners must comply with the requirements of the New Zealand Immigration Service.

Visa and Permit:

Regent International Education Group is approved online student permit and work permit partner by Immigration New Zealand. Regent students able to apply student permit and work permit on campus.

Work Eligibility

International Students can work for 20 hours in any given week during the programme.
